The eco-friendly constitution of the yurts ensures a close connection with nature. The yurts are windowless but the roof ring dome provides light rays to shine in. The warmth is secured with woollen insulation and gas heating in every yurt. The owner and the only inhabitant of the island can be reached in case of emergency. You can always reach by email or phone. The only way to reach Traustholtshólmi is by car. Rental cars can be rented at Keflavík International Airport and we recommend the drive through Reykjavík and later on Hveragerði and Selfoss until you turn down from Road 1 to the road leading to Traustholtshólmi's closest parking lot and boat pick-up location. Hákon, the only inhabitant of the island with his dog Gutti, will be saluting the guests on the banks of river Þjórsá. The guests will be transferred to the island by the zodiac boat, and the ride is a few minutes long. Check-in 17:00 until 22:00. If you require a late check-in, it is possible to be arranged until 22:00, but please inform us as early as possible. Check-out until 12:00.

A hidden gem of the Arctic.


An authentic experience that can be lived in the utterly enchanting nature of the island within an island.

The experience comprises of a transfer to the island Traustholtshólmi by boat, history encounter while strolling through the island, taking part in salmon catching, subsequently sharing stories by the fire whilst admiring the abundant astounding scenery.
The agenda starts at 5 pm when Hákon, the only inhabitant of the island Traustholtshólmi with his dog Gutti, will be saluting the guests on the banks of river Þjórsá. The guests will be transferred to the island by the zodiac boat, and the ride is few minutes long. 
The visitors are invited to accompany and assist Hákon while he hangs the net. The bliss of slow living is embodied in the patient process as hauling the net back in. Thereafter, the fish will be dressed and prepared uniquely. In the interim, the guests can enjoy fresh sashimi straight from the water. 
The guests have the opportunity to survey the Arctic growing process and the preservation of the absolutely undisrupted gardens by any kind of industrialization. Moreover, savoring the vegetables straight from the sustainable centuries-old gardens is marvelous. 

The epitome of tranquility can be experienced in the period 01 June until 20 July.

Yurt

3 Snug and cosy yurts sufficiently distanced securing privateness. The eco-friendly constitution of the yurts ensures a close connection with nature. The yurts are windowless but the roof ring dome provides light rays to shine in. Just step out on the stupendous greenery, feel the tingling and the breath is taken away.
Each yurt, with a size of 20 m2, can fit 2 adults and 2 children. The bedding can be arranged according to your preference as a Double or Twin bed, and additional mattresses can be supplied for the children. Furthermore, the yurts are embellished with Mongolian furnishing. Beside the bed 2 small nightstands are placed, a desk, sofa with cushions and carpets on the wooden floor are rested in the yurts. There is one shared outhouse and southern of it the shared outdoor shower, whose windows open the immeasurable beauty of the environment, is rested. 
Local breakfast buffet is served in the communal yurt, whereas shared kitchen facilities, such as coffee, tea, kettle, stove and BBQ grill, are at your disposal.
Books and board games are obtainable.
